Joining Us
Thank you for your interest in joining the Barnes Swimming Club.
The club regularly runs trials for new swimmers depending on available space.
If you would like to attend the trials, please fill in the on-line Trial Application Form. Your name will be placed on the waiting list. We will get in touch a few weeks before the actual trial date with more details and will ask you to confirm your attendance.
At the trials, the coaches will be able to assess your current swimming level and decide which squad would be the most beneficial for your needs. If your trial has been successful, you soon will be contacted and invited to join from a certain date.
If you have recently competed at County/Regional or National level or you are over 18 years of age and wish to join the Pre-Masters or Seniors and Masters squads, you do not need to wait for a trial. Fill the Application Form and if you fulfill the criteria, you will be invited to attend a training session on a trial basis where the coaches will be able to make a decision.

Joining the club
If you accept our invitation to swim at Barnes SC, you will then be sent an email with further details about the club and a BSC Membership Application Form asking for contact and medical details. You will need to pay a joining fee (currently £40) and also set up a standing order for your regular monthly membership fee.
As part of joining Barnes Swimming Club, you need to join Swim England (we will pay your membership fees). You will receive an email from Swim England asking you to fill in your details on their website before their first swim day. Please note, you are required to fill in a Swim England Registration Form even if you are already a member through another swimming club. If you are transferring from another club, please discuss it with our admission team. You might be asked to resign from your previous club and to fill in a Resignation Form as well.
All swimmers and club volunteers must be a member of Swim England. In addition, each member under the age of 16 can have one of their parents to join the Club and the Swim England as a Category 3 (non-swimming) member. Swim England Category 3 membership costs a very small amount each year, but enables you to represent your child and vote at the Barnes Swimming Club AGM.
Please read the Swim England privacy policy: https://www.swimming.org/asa/about-us/privacy-policy/
To summarise:
If you want to upload your scanned membership form, you can do so on the the upload form tab. Alternatively email it to [email protected]

Leaving the Club
Please let the Membership Secretary, the Treasurer and the Swim England Registration Officer know in writing if you are planning on leaving the club. They need to be aware so they can cancel your membership, take you off the email list and stop paying your Swim England membership fees. It will be up to you to cancel your standing order, we cannot do this for you.
If you decide to leave, please let us know before you cancel your standing order, so we won't chase you unnecessarily. If you do not pay, you cannot swim and if you miss two months payments, you will be deemed to have left BSC. In cases of hardship, please do discuss it with one of us, as we will try to help those in genuine need.
Please note, all cups, plates and trophies that belong to the club need to be returned on departure.
