MASTERS

SQUAD CRITERIA

1. SWIMMING COMPETENCE

To join this squad a swimmer will able to achieve the following;
• Train at a reasonable pace for 2,500 – 4,000m in a session
• Preferably had a competitive swimming background or aspire to competitive swimming.
Swimmers must be able to cope with the training sessions. The criteria serve as guidance.

2. COMMITMENT
There is no set number of sessions required, however the recommendation is that swimmers attend training at least once a week. Swimmers are strongly encouraged to compete in Masters swimming competitions and Open Water events for BSC. They should also be available and compete in team events which BSC take part in such as the National Arena League, County, Regional and National Championships.

3. AGE
Men and Women - 18 years and above

Any exceptions to the criteria need to be discussed and agreed with the coaches and will be at their discretion.

4. AIMS AND ASPIRATIONS
The Senior and Masters Squad is an organised and supervised swim practice for adults which encompasses the disciplines of Senior Open Age Group, Senior and Masters Age Group and Open Water Swimming. All these swimmers train and compete to the best that they can be. There is also an integral link with the Competitive Development Squad. There is, of course, a philosophy: ‘Make swimming a “lifestyle” activity – have fun!’

Training available: 11 hours (7 swim practices per week) .
