This is the first email we are sending since new committee members have joined including new co-chairs. We have some exciting changes coming up that we will be announcing by 1 September to improve communications with you, our swimmers and elevate our performance as a swimming club. In the meantime, there are two important administrative changes which you need to know about:
1. Increase in member fees:
For various unavoidable reasons, our pool hire fee has increased significantly. We were historically paying way below market rates, so this increase now puts us in line with other comparable facilities in the area. Unfortunately, BSC will need to increase member fees to cover these additional costs which will be effective from 1st September 2019. You have our assurance that we are doing our best to operate efficiently as a non-profit club and this is the first increase in fees since 2013. As the BSC fees were previously so low, even after the increased squad fees we will still be similar to, if not lower than, other local swim clubs.
To be as fair as possible, this new fee structure takes into account squad pool usage time and is commensurate with how similar clubs charge their members.
New fees:
Joining fee: £40
Monthly fees (12 monthly instalments throughout the year including holidays):
2. Change in payment structure:
The club will be moving to a GoCardless monthly direct debit payment system which we believe is the easiest way to handle payments moving forward. To minimise admin for you, we are co-inciding this change with the increase in member fees on 1 September.
Actions for you:
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send them to comms.bsc@gmail.com
In future, committee members will be available at regular drop-in sessions on the weekend to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. Look out for an email outlining our news comms process starting on 1 September which includes these sessions!
Wishing you all the best for the rest of the summer.

Actions for you:
- You will shortly be receiving an invitation from BCS providing a link to GoCardless with clear instructions on how to set up the new amount as a direct debit monthly fee mandate.
- Once you have set up the GoCardless direct monthly debit, please make sure that you cancel the existing standing order that you are currently using to pay the BCS fees.
